Alexandra Benson (b. 1996) is an interdisciplinary artist and cultural organizer currently working in photography, collage, and public art.

As an artist, she uses traditional collage techniques and alternative printing methods to manipulate personal archival images and photographs she has taken on analog cameras. The final products combine experimental photography and mixed-media collage to develop visual narratives that blur lines between recollection and reality. Her work centers sentimentality and storytelling to explore the geography of community history and the idea of home.

As an organizer, Alexandra has over a decade of experience supporting local artists through creative placemaking and community arts programming. She has helped develop over 80 public art projects, published research in arts education leadership, and curated more than 50 pop-up creative activations and cultural events throughout North Carolina and Washington, DC. She is also the former founder of ArtWSNC, a grassroots arts initiative for student artists funded by the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.

Alexandra holds a Masters in Public Administration from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management from Salem College.

Her studio is based in Washington, DC.
